Aqua S: Mango-Passionfruit & Belgium Chocolate (2019 Apr)

Savour passion at Aqua S with Mango-Passionfruit and Belgium Chocolate! This combination of tart and bitter will set your tastebuds a-tingling with delight this April.

…or so they’d like you to think.

We stopped by Orchard so it was time for Aqua S (again). As usual, we sampled both flavours before making our decision.

The mango-passionfruit started very tartly, with an interesting almost-floral taste of passionfruit, but then it faded into a very medicinal, artificial bite at the end. We tend to enjoy their tart fruit flavours, so this was a real disappointment.

The Belgium chocolate has a strong, bitter cocoa taste at the beginning, not too sweet at all, but then mellows out and feels a little diluted by creamy dairy. It’s actually too milky alone, but we’re chocolate people, so we got a twist anyway.

That was the right decision – most Aqua S flavours really tend to be improved with the Sea Salt, and the combination is classic. The Sea Salt made the bitter chocolate more prominent, which is pretty much what we were looking for. Unfortunately, it also feels like the Sea Salt overpowers the chocolate, and it does get lost over time.
